Protecting forests. Growing a future.

Forestry Association is a non-governmental organisation from Tirana, Albania. We work with people and communities to protect forests, restore damaged land and share the knowledge that keeps both alive.

Every moment counts

Their roots touch everything.

Forests are complex, living worlds of intertwined layers of life, stretching across diverse landscapes and blanketing our planet in green. They are also nature’s great providers: pulling carbon from the atmosphere, filtering the air, releasing the oxygen we breathe, sheltering wildlife, stabilising soils, growing food and medicine, shielding us from harmful UV rays, cooling our climate and securing our freshwater.

From ancient times to today, people have depended on trees and forests for food, shade and shelter. As a result, we all share a deep, natural connection to trees. That connection is what we work to protect.

Our mission
Roots of an old tree spreading across the forest floor

From cooling our climate to delivering water deep inland, their roots touch everything.

Why forests matter

One forest, a thousand gifts.

Nobody needs to be a forester to understand what is at stake. Here is what a healthy forest quietly does for all of us, every day.

Climate

Forests absorb and store carbon and cool the landscape around them.

Clean air

Leaves filter dust and pollutants and release the oxygen we breathe.

Fresh water

Forests hold the rain, feed springs and slow down floods.

Healthy soil

Roots hold slopes together and keep erosion and landslides in check.

Wildlife

From insects to large mammals, thousands of species call forests home.

Livelihoods

Timber, food, medicinal plants and work for the families who live nearby.

How we work

Slowly, together and for the long term.

Listen

Every forest has neighbours. We begin by listening to the villages, farmers, foresters and young people who know the land best.

Act

Together we plant, protect and restore, choosing native species and methods suited to the local soil and climate.

Share

We pass on what works through workshops, schools and open materials, so results last long after a project ends.
